Kirby is a sweet kitty who hates coming inside, and has no interest in figuring out Toby. He can usually be found in our front yard. Pumpkin resents him. Kirby is a gentle giant who is twice her size. He takes no interest in her, which infuriates her. He and Max (not pictured) have a special friendship.
Whenever I pay attention to him, this sort of shameless display follows.
Pumpkin has been fighting, which is not good. She is missing a hunk of fur.
It is really best for her to rule from afar, a puppetmaster, so to speak. She is not built for war.

Kirby reminds me of out large tomcat we lost 5 years ago, I still miss him. He was a 22 pound descendant of barn cats that looked more Bobcat than housecat and kept the house and property free of vermin. In the spring I’d come outside in the morning to find dozens of headless and dismembered voles/moles/mice/chipmunk/squirrel/rabbit and the occasional unlucky bird.
That’s what eventually did him in- he started fighting raccoons. He killed several of them over about a year, an infection from the last one he took out finished him off.
While they’ll happily curl up in a ball at your feet or in your lap, don’t ever forget these animals come from a long line of ruthless killers.
